H.Wendl. & Drude, is naturally found in Australia growing from Durras Mountain in the south to the central, east coast of New South Wales and extending into Queensland, from sea level to an altitude of 1,200 m (3,937 ft) It is found growing in rainforest understory or along, and in creek beds. It grows in moist to wet sandy-silty to light clay loam that is moderately well drained with a pH range from 5.0 to 7.0, and tolerates temporary inundation. It prefers a semi shaded humid wind protected position when young, to full sun as it matures and is frost, drought tender.
